15th Day In Ningbo, China

Time : 8:30 AM

Woke up abruptly to the sound of rain and talking of my mom and stepdad, was wondering what was going on so i got up and just as i left the room, i saw that water was relentless pouring down into the kids' bedroom! They had gone to school and so were not around at that time. Apparently a water pipe above the kids' room had burst but me, my mom and stepdad didn't know at that time what was wrong. They put pails below the most affected parts but it wasnt enough as tons of water came pouring down like heavy rain. My mom had asked my stepdad to cut the water supply by accessing a manhole in the garden but he didnt and kept on trying to get rid of the water while getting himself drenched too. Major ass flood man!. The room was practically in about 1cm of water and the upboard and everything under the affected areas were drenched in water. Luckily it didn't pour onto the kids' beds. The maid came soon after and my mom asked her to close the water supply and she did. Finally, some respite! The amount of water pouring down was slowly receding. My mom had immediately called for a plumber and the management office but as it was so early they did not answer, we had to wait quite a while before they sent someone over to check things out. Finally at about 9 a plumber came and climbed up onto the small recess where the pipes were. He found out that a pipe had burst from wear and tear and that caused the massive leakage! some other pretty intresting stuff which happened but to cut the long story short, another plumber came and they only finished fixing back the pipe at about 1PM. Me and my mom had to clear all the drenched stuff, especially all of the clothes in the cupboards and drawers, and there were A LOT! My mom had to wipe the kids' accessories dry too. It was such a mess. Had to send about 4 garbage bags full of clothes to the laundry shop to wash and dry them. And to make matters worse, it was raining for the first time in quite a while! It made the temperature even colder and when i went outside, when i talked, there would be 'smoke' coming out of my mouth. This was very cool to me as i'd never been in a country with a climate such as this. That was probably the only plus point of an otherwise disastrous start to the day haha.. We were just so thankful that in the end everything sorta worked out but my mom was pissed with the owner of the house, who didn't do any maintenance on the house and that was probably why the water pipe wasn't found to have any problems before. Anyways, i had developed a fever too so it wasnt exactly the best of days, in fact it's the worst day since i've been here haha....Anyhoos, here are some pics from the flood.

Took a rest after all the chaos and drama which unfolded while my mom and stepdad went out to get some stuff done at around 3:30PM. Stayed home to wait for the kids to come home at 4:40PM. Watched the volleyball world championships on CCTV 5, China's only sports channel available here, and if i'm not wrong it was China Vs Japan fighting it out for 5th Place in the women's competition.

Time : 4:55PM

Kids came home and they learnt about the flood in their room from Auntie Binny, who had went to fetch them from their bus drop off point. They were pretty calm about it and looked like it didn't bother them too much haha. We then slacked till about 7PM when my mom and stepdad came home. We then left to have dinner at yet another Szechuan restaurant. In the restaurant, next to the counter on the floor lay a bottle of snake wine. Time : 7:50PM

Left the restaurant to go to yet another shopping mall, this one called NGS. It's located about a KM away from the house. Went there to get some groceries and also to buy more MINI DV tapes to record all sorts of stuff while im here and in Melbourne later on. Too bad the sales assistants having the key to a display which held the MINI DV tapes had already gone home. It was a pretty dodgy electronic mall called GOME haha. Proceeded to go to the hypermarket, which yet again sold everything. There seems to be a lot of hypermarkets here in Ningbo. After getting all our stuff, we then went home. Couple pics from NGS...

Got home and went online to check up on stuff and went to bed soon after. Man, the flood in the room was pure madness and an event i won't easily forget haha, I have it on Video too so yeah, for you melbourne and sg frens/family i'll be showing it to u guys soon. woopie doos!
