10th Day In Ningbo, China

Date : 111106
Time : Morning

Did the usual, woke up, ate, said hi to my spawn figure haha and following that slacked on the couch and watched V for Vendetta. Joined by my stepdad but soon had to pause watching it as we were gonna go out.

Time : 11-ish AM

Was goin to a China Foods Exposition at the Ningbo Expo Hall, so we got all geared up and left by 12 PM. We had time to take some shots in front of the house though haha

Reached the expo hall in about 25 mins, huge place encompassing a huge area, somewhat like Singapore Expo. Had 6 Halls in total. Went around all 6 halls, buying some foodstuffs along the way. Basically, there was all kinds of food from all over China on show and most on sale too. One shop even sold fried bees. Was looking out for more crazy food but that's as crazy as it got. Oh yea maybe ox's/duck's tongue was on par with it. Anyway got hungry halfway through, and it was damn cold, the coldest i've felt since i've been here. The wind was crazy cold, made me have immediate goosebumps, what was worse was i left my windbreaker in the car haha. There were food stalls outside the halls, one was selling noodles and such but the one we went to sold Pitas/Chinese version of satay and plain bread from a muslim province in China. Fully packed when we went there and we bought beef pitas, the mutton satay and a bigass piece of plain bread(oval shaped). It was pretty interesting and tasted good. yummy...too bad i forgot to bring the cam into the exhibitions. After finishing our food, i immediately wanted to get into the hall as i was being frozenised! haha It was way warmer in the halls. Walked about buyin more stuff and made our way out of the place at around 2 50PM.

Time : 3:15PM

We left the Expo at 3PM and proceeded to a Pet/Plant place. It was shoddy looking but huge, about the size of 2 football fields. Inside were all sorts of plant shops and this was where the kids bought Russ, their dog. Walked into the end, where all the pets were, Thunderous barking came from there. On reaching the end, the living conditions for the dogs were pretty bad, most were in pretty small cages and looked rather dirty. Russ was spotted by the kids as a little puppy in a bird cage! Apparently the shop which sold him had closed down now. They were hoping to buy the dog a mini house from there. Anyways, there were some really cute small puppies on sale, and i videocammed them. Didnt have time to take pictures of them though and soon we walked back out into the plants' shops. Kids bought a mini plant each for their rooms and mom ordered a few plants to be put into the garden. Here are some pics in front of the plant shop.

Time : 4:15PM
Following this, we went to the G A M E shop as the kids wanted to buy some game boy stuff. Nothing too interesting happening here, although my stepdad was interested in a few Anime toys which were way overpriced. I offered to help him find it back in Singapore where it might be cheaper. Took pics of the toys he was interested in, this is one of em. (It's the big black-gold robot-like thing)

Took a pic of me in front of the shop too, for remembrance' sake haha

Time : 5:00PM

Went to a local fast food joint called Yon Ho, which mainly specialises in soya bean dishes, like soya bean soup and the normal tau huay. Ate you tao kuay and tau huay there (forgive my poor diction of the food). Pretty nice.

After that, proceeded home and lazed about till 7 30PM, we were gonna have dinner with the neighbours at a place called Little Fat Sheep or sumthing hhaha.

Time : 8:00PM

Arrived at the steamboat restaurant, Little Fat Sheep. Eye catching logo they got, here's a look..

It was here where i first tasted the unique Szechuan Pepper. I was eating and suddenly my tongue felt burnt, i thought i had burnt myself while drinking the soup, but when my mom said ,"Boy, you should try the szechuan pepper, real nice, it makes ur tongue feel numb though.", I realised then that i had bit into one of em nasty small pods. It made my tongue not taste anything, wonder why my mom loves to eat em haha. Tried my best to avoid the peppers but they don't seem to give up and i ended up biting on quite a few haha. So yea, everyone had their fill, even Nat was drunk...

Time : 9:30PM

Decided to walk off all the food we'd consumed at 'the foreigner's place', which basically looked like clarke quay, the buildings. It was named so as there were a lot of bars/pubs around and it was basically where all the foreigners here went to have fun or meet up and stuff. Small water fountains were abundant in this area and they also had a Starbucks here. Took time off to snap a couple shots...

Uncle Ashay and Rishabh

At the end of the shops was a river, akin to Clarke Quay as i said. It was quite cool, with the cold wind breezing past, to be overlooking the river and seeing some of Ningbo's buildings at night. walked around for a bit more before heading home at around 10 PM.

Came home and did nothing much else after a tiring day. Probably the most i've done for a day since i've been here.
